UIL Advanced Academics

This week we had several students participate in the district UIL Advanced Academics Competitions. We are excited to share that we had several students place in the competition!

Very Viking Holiday Party

Vikings, we would love to invite you to our Very Viking Holiday taking place on December 18th from 5-7PM in our cafeteria.

We will have cookie decorating, a variety of crafts, and holiday games.

Students are required to attend with a guardian.

We hope to see you all there to celebrate the holidays.
 

Countdown to Winter Break

Our students are invited to join the holiday festivities with our countdown to winter break theme days!

Monday, 12/15 - YeeHaw Holiday - Wear western wear

Tuesday, 12/16 - Holiday Cheer - Wear a favorite sports jersey

Wednesday, 12/17 - Santa vs Reindeer - Wear either a Santa hat or reindeer antlers

Thursday, 12/18 - Very Viking Holiday - Wear your favorite holiday sweater

Friday, 12/19 - Winter Wonderland - Wear your grade level color and show your pride during the staff vs student volleyball game

6th grade - blue
7th grade - green
8th grade- red

We are excited to celebrate the holiday season with our Viking Family!
 

Early Release Friday, 12/19

As we head into winter break, please remember that every day of learning matters. Your child’s attendance next week is essential to keeping them on track and finishing the semester strong.

We want to send a friendly reminder that next Friday, December 19, is an early release day for MISD students. Please see below for the dismissal times:
  • Elementary Schools: 12:25 PM
  • Middle Schools: 12:45 PM
  • High Schools: 1:05 PM
  • Vanguard: 1:35 PM

Email the Vanston librarian at awaugh@mesquiteisd.org to get signed up.

Also, have your student use their Library Share Card to get items from the Mesquite and Balch Springs Public Libraries. If they’ve lost your card, they can look up their account by their student ID.
